The Telephone Triage Process

Physio Med - Telephone Triage

Telephone Triage is a key element of the Physio Med process, providing the gateway to our therapeutic interventions. It screens the employee against evidence based criteria regarding their clinical and organisational suitability for Physio Med’s intervention, while determining the right intervention for them. It provides immediate advice, guidance and support regarding condition management, recovery and work capability.

 The referred employee is contacted by the dedicated Triage Team who triage them to ensure that they fit within the agreed organisational referral criteria; that they are suitable for physiotherapeutic intervention - dismissing clinical red flags (refer to GP / A&E). They also assess a person’s psychosocial response to their injury and use this information to make a clinical routing decision for onward case progression to the appropriate intervention.

 

All Telephone Triage Calls Are Taken By Specialist Practitioners

The telephone physiotherapy call normally takes between 10-15 minutes and is provided by Physio Med’s employed practitioners within our Head Office facilities in Leeds, using evidence-based clinical decision making and supporting evidence-based tools.
